Constructed from plant-based material, the Pela Clear case is the world’s first fully compostable, transparent case. Its rigid, transparent back and Pela’s signature colored Flaxstic® bumper are fused together for a soft touch feel with a little bit of grip. Thanks to the impact-absorbent edges, this case is durable enough to protect your device from impacts, drops, and scratches.

Materials

The Pela Case is made of Flaxstic®, which is comprised of compostable bioplastic elastomer and flax straw materials. Materials have been tested to be safe and free of phthalates, BPA, cadmium, and lead and are verified to meet child safety standards and composting standards in an industrial composting facility and have a lower carbon footprint and lower greenhouse gas emissions than traditional plastic. It can also be left to biodegrade in a home composting environment.

After 3 weeks in an industrial compost pile in Canada, this is what’s left of 3 Pela cases. They decomposed faster than regular cardboard – According to independent testing done by UBCO (The University of British Columbia).
